The Interview

Do not

• Fidget
• Slouch
• Wear casual dress
• Assume the job is yours
• Act casual
• Tell the interviewer you could earn more money than they are offering
• Launch an attack on previous employers – An interview is not the place for this
• Babble through the silence. An interviewer maybe thinking
• Start making demands
• Lie about reasons for leaving your previous employers

Do

• Arrive 10 minutes early
• Turn off your mobile telephone
• Ensure you can stay as long as the interviewer needs you
• Act courteous to everyone you meet before the interviewer
• Ensure your handshake is firm
• Make the interviewer feel at ease – Build rapport
• Maintain good eye contact
• Answer questions clearly and concisely
• Show enthusiasm
• Listen to what the interviewer is saying
• Read the interviewers non verbal communication – Does he/she look puzzled, should you re-explain
• Ask prepared questions
